Cleaning.
Imagine that you have already finished applying eyelash extensions on your client, then they pay you and Voila! It asks you: How should I take care of my eyelash extensions? The first thing you should say is: for the next 24 hours, water and humidity are your enemies. You have to stay far, far away. And not only from water but from sweat, some kind of oil, steam, and also from sad movies… yes, zero tears that day.
But you must tell him that in the following days, it is essential to clean the eyelashes, which must be clean at least once a day with baby shampoo and a brush, to avoid the accumulation of dirt and the proliferation of germs and harmful bacteria. Contact with aqueous substances will not harm your eyelash extensions if you follow your cleaning routines, for example:
Wash your face when you wake up or shower during the day with cold or lukewarm water, never hot.
Use makeup without water resistance, mascara is not necessary. Remove makeup normally from your entire face and with special care for your eyes and their contours.
Apply creams or lotions, ensuring that there is no contact between the product and the eyelashes.
Use special soap or shampoo to clean the eyelashes and then a mini comb to comb them.
Sleep on your back.
Maintenance.
For eyelash extensions, cleaning is not the same as maintenance. Maintenance means retouching or adjusting previous work, that is, what you have done before with your client. As you know, eyelashes naturally have a life cycle of 60 or 90 days so your client would be overly optimistic if they think their extensions will be perfect after 4 or 5 weeks.
Maintenance should be carried out between 2 and 3 weeks.
Rest.
There are those who want to look magnificent 24/7 and that is respectable. However, as a professional, you have the obligation to express to your client that the eyes, in this case… one of the most delicate parts: the eyelashes, need rest. All beauty treatments must be on the body for a reasonable amount of time, so this is just a tip that you can share… remember that in the end, the client is the one in charge and the one who decides what to do or not to do with their eyelashes and their style. . You could suggest them to use eyelash extensions for three months and rest for another 2 weeks. (I suggest you do a lash lift in the meantime, to strengthen and give your eyelashes a necessary rest.
Don’t forget: cleaning, maintenance and rest are the key when teaching your clients how to care for eyelash extensions.
